Welcome to Move the Chains - a blog about living with chronic illness, fighting through adversity, and love of pro football, namely the San Francisco 49ers!

I live with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), a form of Dysautonomia, a disorder of the Autonomic Nervous System. Sometimes it feels like "sick girl" is my whole identity. However, when football season starts, I am reminded of and hold tight to my other identity - a diehard 49er Faithful . I’ve been watching the Niners since I wasa teenager who turned on the tv one day and fell madly in love with Joe Montana with those baby blue eyes and smile that belonged in a toothpaste commercial. Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with the game of pro football and made an effort to learn everything I could about it.

When I became sick, the 49ers became my inspiration and motivation. Their grit, resilience, and “never say die” attitude became a part of my own playbook in fighting my illness. Football has taught me that the fight isn’t about perfection - it’s about progress – a few yards at a time, moving the chains, finding a way to move forward no matter how tough the opponent.

That's the core of this blog...facing adversity and fighting to move forward, to accumulate "yardage", by inches if necessary, in life, love, and football. Move the Chains is where my two worlds collide: my journey with chronic illness, my 49ers fandom, and how my team helps me to keep fighting for the life that I want. I hope it becomes a place that you can share your own adversity and fight for inches, what inspires you, as well as love for and memories of the San Francisco 49ers.

So, throw on your favorite gameday style, grab a salty snack, and let's get this game started!
